I plan on removing all the batteries wire brushing the corrosion treating with baking soda and water painting the area with a rustoleum rust primer then painting that with either a bedliner spray or an undercoating spray.
Rv battery compartment corrosion.
My newmar is a dp and my engine batteries are very well vented plus they are sealed units so never any corrosion there.
Oldblackwater on 06 03 15 02 16pm i m getting a lot of corrosion on one of my two 6v batteries enough that i ve had to replace the terminal nuts twice in the last year or so.
Even just spraying with a hose will help but the best option is to wash the rv battery area with a mild solution of baking soda and water.
My house bank are wet batteries and that compartment is not very well vented so i do see corrosion in there.
Even when the batteries are agm or gel based the area where they are housed still needs to be regularly checked as the metal parts close to the batteries may suffer corrosion.
Keeping your rv battery area clean.
When it comes to rv battery maintenance you should also periodically clean any metal parts near your rv batteries because these too may suffer corrosion.
The corrosion seems to be more on the house battery side of the compartment.
Over time the metal parts of your vehicle will react with water and oxygen to create corrosion.
Keep the area clean and corrosion free with the same solution of baking soda and water that you use to maintain the terminals.
X2 what carl said.
How to maintain the rv battery housing.
